Schizophyllaceae is a family that only has one genus. It is easily recognized by its unique hymenium which has many thick gills which are split when the mushroom is dry. Schizophyllaceae cause white rot in hardwoods.
The most common member of the genus Schizophyllum is Schizophyllum commune, the worlds most widely distributed mushroom. It looks like a mini Oyster mushroom which is one fifth the size.
