Cancer Institute of New South Wales

The Cancer Institute of New South Wales(Australia) was established in July 2003 by the New South Wales state government through the Cancer Institute NSW Act 2003. Its establishment was aimed at creating a cancer management plan in consultation with the New South Wales Department of Health.

Since its creation the Institute have developed two cancer plans for the state.

  • 1st State Cancer Plan: 2004 - 2006
  • 2nd State Cancer Plan: 2007 - 2010

The Plans has five focus section which are aimed at improving cancer results. There priorities are:

  1. Preventing cancer
  2. Detecting Cancer early
  3. Improving cancer services and professional education
  4. Accelerating improvement through research
  5. Relevant data and information
