The Bayer Innovation portfolio currently comprises projects in the area of Medical Technology, Security Technology and Plant made Pharmaceuticals.

Due to increasing demands on security measures, the motivation in the Security Technology area is great and also one of the largest growth fields. A key possibility for best security measures is the production of access - and identity cards which cannot be duplicated or forged. The size of stamps, they have enough capacity to store biometric criteria, such as fingerprints, iris shots or facial features.

In the Medical Devices area, knowledge of new materials combined with knowledge of physiology and human illnesses, as well as the growth of active agents, are all conditions for new and promising products. Examples of these are catheters, vascular implants, stents and wound plasters, consisting of materials containing pharmaceutical substances and thus avoiding infection, prevention of undesired cell growth and acceleration of the healing process.

Furthermore, Bayer Innovation GmbH is also involved in activities regarding the use of plants for manufacturing and development of new and innovative pharmaceuticals (PMP: Plant made Pharmaceuticals). This type of technology uses the natural production of proteins in plants in order to produce therapeutic effective substances.
