Portrait AC Immune SA is a product company with a focus on the area of CNS (conformational) diseases and cancer. The company is located at the Parc Scientifique d'Ecublens (PSE) on the site of the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The originality of AC Immune's approach consists of the combination of an immunology and a chemistry platform technology to develop therapies against "conformational" diseases and cancer. The class of conformational diseases is characterized by an aberrant conformational transition of a specific protein, which in turn leads to a slow and insidious onset of debilitating symptoms. Two well-known examples of conformational diseases are Alzheimer's and Prion disease.
