Portrait BAC BV was established in 1995 as a Unilever subsidiary. Since 1997, the company has provided quality contract manufacturing services to the European Biopharmaceutical, Food Ingredients and Fine Chemicals industries. In 2002 Unilever Ventures provided the support to set up a new business in affinity ligands. They facilitated the start of BAC BV's spin-off, thereby capitalising on the large investments made by the Unilever Group in the discovery and production of single domain antibody fragments over the past ten years. BAC BV's intellectual property portfolio comprises more than 20 patents, patent applications and licences claiming the structure, discovery, manufacture and use of CaptureSelect® affinity ligands as well as IP on production in S.cerevisiae and display methologies. In 2005, BAC completed an external private financing round to enable the company to continue development of new solutions for lab scale separations, to advance its lead products toward launch for large scale use in pharmaceutical processes and invest in proof of principles for Healthcare applications. BAC has a dedicated and experienced team, its own R&D and manufacturing facilities, and an experienced Supervisory Board.
