Founded in 1998 on the initiative of researchers from the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam, AMT has become a leader in the field of human gene therapy. A pioneer in the development of gene therapy AMT has used its scientific know-how and expertise to build up a strong research and clinical development program filling an unmet medical need for therapy of severe (orphan) diseases in the following areas:
* metabolic disorders
* ocular diseases
* central and peripheral nervous system
AMT is located on the premises of the AMC and employs a staff of over 60 highly educated people with scientific and industrial experience. AMT has state-of-the-art GMP facilities as well as R&D and QC laboratories.
