Short description
The Institute for Animal Health, an institute of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, delivers high quality fundamental, strategic and applied science focused on infectious diseases of farm animals. This knowledge is used to advance veterinary science, and to enhance the sustainability of livestock farming and food security in the UK and globally. In addition to research output and training, the IAH provides diagnostic services for a number of diseases, and gives expert advice to the UK government, farmers and veterinarians, and to international agencies such as the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), and the European Union.
