DSCR1 interacts with FMRP and is required for spine morphogenesis and local protein synthesisKyung-Tai Min and colleagues report the first molecular link between Down syndrome and Fragile X syndrome. DSCR1 (implicated in Down syndrome) interacts with FMRP (Fragile X syndrome protein) to regulate spine morphogenesis and local protein synthesis in dendrites. Both processes are implicated in synaptic activity and intellectual disabilities.
