New: Selective Isolation of Microbial DNA

MolYsis™: 40 000-fold better PCR-sensitivity through removal of non-target DNA

by Molzym GmbH & Co. KG

In molecular microbiology PCR sensitivity is often limited by a non-target (human or animal) DNA.

The groundbreaking MolYsis™ technology easily removes the non-target (human/animal) DNA from samples such as whole blood, CSF, BAL, synovial fluid, pleural fluid, urine and other body liquids and selectively isolates bacterial DNA.

MolYsis™ enables for up to 40.000-fold better PCR sensitivity as compared to conventional DNA isolation.

Removal of human DNA background and PCR inhibitors

MolYsis™ removes the interfering human DNA background via a selective lysis of human cells, followed by a digestion of the released human DNA. In parallel, PCR inhibitors are removed as well.

Bacterial DNA enrichment

In addition, MolYsis™ enriches and selectively isolates bacterial DNA. A special enzyme blend guarantees optimal lysis of gram-negative as well as gram-positive bacteria.

MolYsis™ has been validated as pre-treatment tool for the detection of bacteria by PCR or qPCR assays. In combination with Molzym‘s highly active, DNA-free MolTaq 16S polymerase or with the ready-to-use DNA-free Mastermix 16S products, reliable and sensitive PCR results are guaranteed.

Key benefits:

  • Removal of non-target (human/animal) DNA
  • Selective enrichment and isolation of microbial DNA
  • Removal of PCR inhibitors
  • Validated broad-range lysis of bacteria
  • Guaranteed DNA-free reagents
  • Sample volume 0.2-10 ml
  • Up to 40 000-fold higher PCR sensitivity
  • Sample pre-treatment kit for background-free PCR analysis
  • Automation available
