For the acquisition of colorimetrically stained gels, blots, TLC plates etc., scanners with reflectance and transmittance mode are more dedicated than camera systems for several reasons. The new series ViewPix® of biostep consists of 4 scanner systems which differ in their scanning size, the type of greyscale wedge as well as the software equipment.
The ViewPix® scanners distinguish by a very simple and intuitive operation, a high proof sensitivity as well as a low space requirement in the laboratory. They are ideal system for the documentation and quantification of gels and blots which were stained with Coomassie®Blue, AmphiBlue®Visopt or SilverStain. Even very weakly stained bands and spots can still safely be detected due to the high-quality system optics and the huge dynamic range.
Another important aspect from the laboratory routine is the unproblematic detection of moist gels – which is perfectly realisable with the biostep ViewPix® scanners.
When developping the system software, highest priority was put on the implementation of user wishes and typical lab processes. Therefore, individual acquisition methods with and without specific greyscale calibration can be created for every type of gel and blot. This method-based control simplifies the operation essentially and guarantees a high reproducibility.
The scope of supply contains one biostep® greyscale wedge. For a sample-adjusted calibration of the scanners, we offer a variety of different greyscale wedges for both - the reflectance as well transmittance mode. These greyscales wedges can be recalibrated and certified on request anytime at biostep.
Another significant request of the lab routine has been also realised: The gels and blots can be scanned as calibrated greyscale image for a further quantification and as coloured image for the documentation of the original colouring of the sample. Depending on SOP, the effort of drying, shrink-wrapping and achivating the gels can therefore be omitted.
