StomaphyX

"The StomaphyX device is an endoluminal fastener and delivery system that consists of an ergonomic, flexible fastener delivery device and steril [sic] polypropylene fastener implants. All devices are packaged sterile, and are for single patient use."1

The procedure to insert the StomaphyX device is the first FDA-approved non-invasive bariatric procedure2 for weight loss. The device is currently indicated only for people who have undergone gastric bypass (GBP) surgery, and yet have begun gaining weight after having initially lost weight. The device is a band that restricts the stomach by being fastened inside the stomach, using blue plastic staples. The procedure to insert the device is considered non-invasive, as no cutting of any tissue is required.

The StomaphyX device was patented by EndoGastric Solutions.
