First trimester bleeding



In obstetrics, first trimester bleeding, is bleeding from the vagina during pregnancy in the first trimester (0 weeks-12 weeks gestational age).

Differential diagnosis

  • abortion (threatened, inevitable, complete, incomplete, missed, habitual, septic)
  • gestational trophoblastic neoplasia
  • ectopic pregnancy
  • implantation bleeding
  • spotting
  • lower GU tract causes
    • vagina bleed
    • cervical bleed
